Well the traits of likeable, successful and worthy leaders aren’t that difficult to work out.
Stay focused, strong and encouraging – no tunnel vision, not selfish and autocratic
You must be strong willed, polite and motivating. Who is going to stay with you to build the dream when you’re crushing them with criticism and selfish being?
Be kind and forgiving – not weak and naïve
Everyone has their own lives to go back to when they leave the workplace, you will know yourself and understand this, so know when someone needs extra support – but also know when people are taking you for what your worth. Be kind enough to yourself and the colleague and be honest about the situation. Be forgiving but forgive yourself when you lose your investment in that person.
Be proud and appreciative – not arrogant and down putting
When you’ve earned your success you’ve earned the pride, but don’t force this down people’s throats. Pride is what you need to get further ahead in the game and you need to swallow that sometimes too. Know when you’ve got something to be proud of and appreciate who helped you to get there.
Be inclusive and hear others out – don’t be intimidating and power driven
A successful leader knows that those who supported you are the ones you need to bring up and hear out the most. You are their example, the one they have devoted their time to. Don’t forget to thank them and listen to their needs and ideas. Make sure you’re there to hear them out and not intimidating to bring an idea forward to – that idea may just be a great push forward and solution.
Lead by example – don’t expect others to ignore a bad move
You’re the leader in the group, you’re the one people will go to to make the decisions. Some people will be waiting to watch you trip up, understand that we all make mistakes but someone will drag you down and lose faith as soon as you start to give up and give in. Be the intuitive example people want to know, support and follow.
