This is an extremely important subject I feel, whenever you read about successes, whenever you hear stories about successful people they focus on how much money a person made, how they managed to grow from pay-cheque to pay-cheque to being completely self-sufficient and while yes this is successful in monetary terms, it doesn’t value against true success.
Success in yourself.
What comes from your passion, doing what you love and truly believing in it is what brings you success, pride, fulfillment and will what makes you successful with money too.
When people talk about how much they want to win the lottery, wish they had a ‘lucky streak’ and the big win, it’s because of this societal drive and pressure that money is success and that having a lot of it will make you happy.
Yes, it’s great to be able to freely spend and have big cash blow-outs and it satisfies the natural instinct and
urge to gather things around us, it satisfies us for the extreme short term but what happens if you failed and you have nothing to fall back on to tide you over until you hit big again financially?
It goes hand in hand at times. Being rich in fulfillment and financially is the ultimate goal, but being able to stay above water and keep afloat is what drives us to succeed more.
While you’re building up personal capital and growing your own business or reaching for the promotions each penny made is valuable to you, it feels worth it because you know how much you worked for it but when it’s handed to you, there is no sense of fulfillment, you don’t take into consideration about what could happen and there’s a bigger urge to just spend because you believe there will be another ‘lucky break’.
Working for your goals and dreams is much more fulfilling and leads to bigger successes than it being handed to you on a silver platter.
Money can satisfy your instantaneous needs and wants, while also keeping your basic needs met, clothing, housing, but it can’t buy you personality, it can’t buy you experience, it can’t buy you the drive and motivation to succeed, in fact what drive would you have if you already have it given to you? Your success comes from your ultimate self, your drive and passion to chase it for yourself.
You make your own luck, by taking chances and pushing yourself through failures. You succeed in what you make for yourself not by winning it. Your knowledge is your success, yourself is your wealth, build it and it’ll be of much more value.
To your personal wealth of success!
