Unless you’re about to walk into something, I do not mean this in the ordinary literal sense. If you are, then please, do mind your head and I sincerely hope you don’t get hurt.
What I am getting at however, is your mental wellbeing and mindfulness. Around the world, mental health is becoming a common subject to talk about and so it should. It’s an incredibly important topic that everyone, young and old, strong and weaker, successful and ‘working-on-it’s’, and all genders alike should be taking into consideration and taking care of.
When we talk about mental health, people usually think of the well-known illnesses such as bipolar and schizophrenia, but there are so many different diagnoses that are less known and just as impactful and influential on people’s lives and their successes.
If you suffer from anxiety, bouts of depression, ADD or any other mental health issue, congratulations! You’ve joined the club of some well-known successful people in the world as well as a large population of those you haven’t heard about.
Everyone can technically be cornered into a subsection of a psychological spectrum of mental illness but, don’t let your diagnosis be your definition. You don’t need to label yourself as this, if you do want to, then that’s up to you, but you are more than this. You are a human being, the same as everyone else getting on in life. It’s how you work around this that builds your character, and can even be therapeutic.
World renowned celebrities like Justin Timberlake, Channing Tatum and Michael Phelps amongst many others have been diagnosed with ADD but they channel their energies into making their successes. Ellen DeGeneres and Jim Carrey amongst many others have suffered from deep clinical depression but they use their creativity and experiences to help others and making their successes.
These are just some big names to illustrate the importance of how being diagnosed with any mental health issue doesn’t have to be a barrier, and it can in fact fuel your creativity and drive to succeed even more.
You can decide whether to let it maim your success or be a stepping stone to success. Your experiences and downfalls will help you appreciate the rewards all the better. What can hold you back can also propel you further ahead, should you choose to let it.
To your success…
